This Online Submission process walks you through the required fields to submit a Home Improvement Salesperson Employment Notification. This process was established to assist Licensees with a way to submit the notification with no exclusion errors. This information can only be completed by a member of personnel listed on the license record, excluding a responsible managing employee or limited partner.

Pursuant to Business and Professions Code (BPC) section 7154, contractors must notify the Registrar of the Contractors State License Board (CSLB) in writing of the employment of a registered Home Improvement Salesperson (HIS) prior to the HIS beginning work for the contractor. Submission of this completed form to CSLB by a contractor meets that notification requirement. The date the association request is processed will be the effective date on which the HIS will be associated with the contractor’s license.
Please be aware that when an HIS is no longer employed by a contractor, the contractor must notify CSLB within 90 days after the date on which the HIS ceases to be employed, using the Contractor Notification of Home Improvement Salesperson Employment Cessation form that is available on CSLB's website. Failure of a contractor to make the required HIS notifications to CSLB is grounds for disciplinary action.
