Workplace safety is a must for anyone in the construction industry. If you're not sure about certain requirements, it's best to ask an expert.

The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA) provides on-site consultation services to help reduce and prevent workplace safety hazards. These services are free of charge and confidential, so there is no risk of citations or fines. The only condition is that you must correct any hazards Cal/OSHA indentifies.

Consultants will be able to analyze and find ways to correct any potential safety or health hazards that may put employees at risk. They can also review written safety procedures and make suggestions on how to improve your established practices.

A phone call to your local Cal/OSHA office, listed at right, gets you started. A Cal/OSHA consultant will then contact you to set up an appointment for an on-site visit. Be sure to have your company's safety programs, workers' compensation loss runs, and any Cal/OSHA Form 300's prepared and on hand before the consultant arrives.
